This commission immediately set a high tempo
— a triptych in a Mexican style, complex, vibrant, and multilayered. I drew,
3D-printed elements, then returned to the brushes again and again, moving in
circles until the work began to breathe. The preparation and initial sketches
stretched over nearly two weeks.
Then came a long
period of immersion — one month, two, three, four… when the project existed
alongside everyday life.
As so often
happens, the final image had almost nothing in common with the original
sketches. Colors shifted, the ornament was reconfigured, the composition
assembled and fell apart dozens of times. The work itself suggested where it
needed to go. In the end, everything came together.
The result turned
out exactly as it was meant to be — and the client was happy. And isn’t that
what we started all of this for?
And yet… a small
but painful “but.” I didn’t manage to photograph the finished work. Incredibly
frustrating. So what you see here are photographs taken by the client.
