Мы совершенно случайно завернули в Городок Sharbot Lake (потерялись по дороге) и вот попали на  индейский праздник (так и не поняли, чему он был посвящен).

Canada Day

Canada Day. It was unusual for us. We spend our time hunting for the fossils in Eganville organized by Ottawa U and Eganville city museum http://www.bonnechere.ca/. This tiny city (1000 and something people), is famous for the Ordovician fossils. This miniature city named itself the Fossil Capital of Canada. These fossils were created after the disappearances of a tropical sea that covered Canada around 450.000000 years ago. During these times the sea contained pretty simple life: corals, articulate brachiopods, bivalves, cystoids, gastropods, nautiloid cephalopods, bryozoa, and crinoids not even fish.

Arts Court 2 Daly Ave.

Arts Court, the former Carleton County Courthouse, was built in 1870 to replace the first courthouse and jail of 1842 that had burned beyond repair. Designed by architect Robert Surtees, the building boasts several Italianate features, including window surrounds, rusticated quoins, and tall chimney stacks. The cornerstone includes gold, silver, and copper coins and bank tokens of the period. Two years after the new courthouse in Elgin opened in 1986, this limestone building was transferred to the City of Ottawa. Arts Court now houses more than 25 arts and heritage organizations. Tours of buildings and galleries.

Arbraska, http://arbraska.com/rigaud-caracteristiques-et-parcours.html, for us it was the new great summer experiences. Rigaud is around one and a half, two hours from Ottawa and one hour from Montreal, pretty small town with a nice private school (Collège Bourget) and downhill ski runs. We were so lucky with the weather: the warm nice breathe, and a sun sometimes hidden in the clouds sometimes comes out. And pretty important: complete absence of bloodsuckers’ mosquitoes. The instructions was not so great so we figured out all details during the practices. There are around nine treks with different levels of difficulty. We start with the average level and my men went to the most risky one. Nastiest one is approximately 10m high, longest and with series games.

В Монтреале в центре города есть гора Монт Роял или королевская гора. На горе парк, и самый дорогостоящий утопающий в зелени парка район города, и знаменитая оратория Святого Жозефа. Каждое летнее воскресенье до заката солнца там собирается куча молодго и не очень, богемного и профессионального народу, ну и студентов конечно и стучат на барабанах и делают чантинг и танцуют. Зрелище занимательное. Играющие все время меняются, обычно есть кто то кто ведет ритм, остольные следуют.  Mountain Mont Royal. Collections experts and researchers will be on hand to answer your questions.

Incredible collection of mammals, fishes, shells, insects, and rocks. Examples: Facilities have 1000 wolf species and 2000 polar bear species. Great collections of deep-water fishes. We spoke with a lot of professionals who answered most of our questions and helped identify some specimens that we brought with us. Dr. Martel was incredibly helpful.

Rawdon, Quebec (Pуская деревня), Свадьба, Harley-Davidson

Равдон (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rawdon,_Quebec) называют русской деревней. Городок находится в 45 мин от Монтреаля и замечателен:

-         сосновым лесом

-         чудесной рыбалкой

-         земляничными полями

-         хорошим песчаным пляжем

-         ежегодным сбором  Hells Angels

-         русскими старожилами, которые появились здесь после второй мировой войны и хранят свой язык и традиции.

Живя в Монтреале, и уставая за неделю от городской суеты, мы обычно на выходные уезжали за город выбирая любое направление в радиусе километров 150-200.

Так мы и попали однажды в Равдон. Городок, а точнее его окресности, полюбились.

Там есть небольшая чистейшая речка, где мы купаемся и ловим рыбку. На этой же речке муниципалитет устроил пляж, но мы уходим в сосновый бор метрах в 300 от пляжа. Сосны высокие, вековые, наверное это именно их и называют корабельными.

English Afternoon Tea

Куда бы мы не приезжали, будь то в Англию, бывшие британские колонии или в места, которые предпочитают посещать британцы, традиция пить послеобедденный чай соблюдалась непременно. Причем есть так называемый Afternoon tea и high tea. Послеобеденный чай, (с трех до пяти часов) подаеться с маленькими пирожными, тортолетками, канапэ, сконсами и сырами. Высокий чай, говорят, отличаеться от послеобеденного. Его пьют с 5 до семи и он считается практически ужином.

Это удивительно-развлекательное место, где смогли удивительно гармонично  вписать детские Хэллоуиновские страшилки в местный ланшафт. Приезжаешь и практически с первых шагов начинаешь впадать в детство и повизгивать со щенячим удовольтвием и вопить или замирать от ужаса в "Доме ужасов и привидений" или удивляться красоте тыквенного поля или застывать от страха, когда за повозкой гонятся чудовища со всеми возможными кровожадными приспособлениями. Потом теплый яблочный сидор с куском восхитительного яблочного пирога, пробежка и попытка выбраться из лыбиринтов всех конфигураций и сложностей.
